We are going back next year for sure! One of the best classic race events in the world. One ticket for the weekend gives you access to everything – the paddock, garages, grandstands and infield areas – which is so appealing… talk to mechanics and the race drivers and see the machinery up close in one word excellent!

Grand Prix World Record Attempt this Sunday
On Sunday 27 July a new record will be attempted when over 100 GP/F1cars, ranging from the ERAs and Alfa Romeos of the mid-1930s through tothe Ferrari’s, Renault’s and Honda’s, of the 1990s, take to the trackto celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the first Grand Prix held atSilverstone in 1948, which will constitute the greatest number of GP/F1cars on licensed Grand Prix circuit at the same time.

Spot the HB Special competition… A great demonstration run in the centre of the city. Come back for the drive from our helmet cam (first time so no idea if its gonna work). Gijs van Lennep, our test driver is also here showcasing the DAF formula 3 car variomatic. All in all a great event!

We are in eindhoven this morning for the static show in Eindhoven. Come by if you are in the area! Tomorrow we will race a small circuit in the city…
“Michel Vaillant”
Driving the HB Special has other privileges than just pure enjoyment. One of them is being photographed at 120 km per hour on the highway by fellow motorists. We always wonder what they do with the pictures? But still its pretty flattering! Another is people jumping in front of you to make you stop to ask "whoawh, what car is that? How fast does it go…" But the Best one yet happened yesterday in Belgium. We were at some traffic lights and an Audi a6 stops to the left of us. On green we both take off in an orderly fashion, thumbs are up through the passenger window of the Audi. Driver, wife in the back and the passenger exchange some words and smiles and grins keep coming…. Oh what the hell we think, lets give them a little show and the throttle goes down. Vroooaaaaphhhh and off we go – 80, 100, 140, 160 and on the brakes for the next traffic lights…. The Audi tries to follow, upon arrival stops next to us. The window goes down and the driver says – you must be Michel Vaillant!

You can understand the grin on my face and the inner contentment when I tell the driver of the Audi Thank you….. no really thank you… I can’t think of a bigger compliment than that!
HB Special Crash
19th of April 2008 started out to be a great day. The HB special was amongst 30 pre-war Bugatti’s in excellent company. The morning rally was fun with 5 grandprix cars in front of us! The Lunch stop was served in a cable production facility. The owner of the company had set out a small track for a timed lap. One by one the Bugatti’s tackled the track… and then it was our turn. Paul took the honours of having the first ‘minor’ crash with the car… Luckily nobody got injured and we taped up the damage and continued our rally without any problems.
